Aileen lives in Acton, Ontario with her two children, two fur-babies, and partner of over 30 years.
Formal education includes an Honours Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University, a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, a Master of Religious Education at the University of Toronto, Creative Writing courses through the University of Toronto at the School of Continuing Studies, and Journalism courses through Humber College.
She has taught many subjects in high school, including Theology, Family Studies and Special Education. She currently works in a secondary special education school program designed for students who require a modified or alternative curriculum for part of their school day.
Her debut novel was published in 2016 and her work has appeared in several literary journals and anthologies such as ricepaper and Tayo Literary Magazine.
